Doctors and Staff
David Moores, DVM - medicine & surgery
Dr. Moores is a Covington native who attended St. Paul High School and Mississippi State University. He then attended LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2003. Since graduating from LSU, Dr. Moores has been working in small animal private practice as well as emergency medicine and surgery. He returns to work in West St. Tammany Parish after spending several years working at a veterinary specialty referral and critical care hospital in Metairie.
Dr. Moores, his wife Celeste, and two children live in Covington along with their two dogs. He is a member of Trinity Church of Covington and enjoys cycling, running, and swimming. He has completed several marathons and half-Ironman races. Dr. Moores loves spending time with his wife, son, and family. Dr. Moores is also a long-suffering Saints fan who was finally redeemed!
Mark Mikelonis, DVM - locum surgeon
Dr. Mikelonis has been a resident of Covington since 1980. He attended Louisiana Tech University for his undergraduate degree in Animal Science, then earned his veterinary degree from Louisiana State University. He has been in small animal practice for 22 years. After veterinary school, Dr. Mikelonis joined the Air Force Reserve and flew both the A-10 and the F-16 over a 11-year reserve career to include missions over Iraq and Bosina-Herzegovina. His veterinary passion has always been surgery. After leaving the military in 2000, Dr. Mikelonis started migrating his practice more towards surgery, and in recent years mostly orthopedics. He has been focusing his current studies in the area of pain management.
Brittney Thompson
Brittney is our jack-of-all trades. She can be found answering phones, answeing questions, assisting the doctors, or spending time caring for our patients!
Celeste Moores
Celeste is Dr. Moores' wife and she can occasionally be seen at the front desk greeting patients as well as hiding out back doing all the behind-the-scene paperwork!
Celeste is also a Covington native who holds a Masters from Louisiana Tech University. She enjoys spending time with David and the kids. She also puts up with her husband's obsession with football.
Erin Creel, RVT
Erin is a Registered Veterinary Technician who also owns and operates a at-home pet sitting company.
Heidi Revere
Heidi is a student at Covington High and she comes to us through the work-study program. She can often be seen answering the phones as well as caring for all our boarding pets! Heidi is also active with FFA and raises her own livestock.
Allie McPherson
Allie is a pre-veterinary student at Louisiana Tech who helps us out during the summers and over school breaks.
Laurie Bickham
Laurie is our part time receptionist and assistant technician. Fish fear her. She can be found answering our phones and assisting our clients and patients with checking in and out of the hospital.
